We all have moments in our lives when we see or experience something that we can't explain. We all have moments in our lives when we see or experience something that we can't explain. Most people have stories from their childhood about seeing Santa Claus on a rooftop, a ghost in the basement, or even Bigfoot on a camping trip. When I was a little girl, my brother died in a car accident, and I thought I saw the Grim Reaper. After more than twenty years, I saw him again. Only this time, he didn't leave me alone.
In this first novel of Mortis, Eliza Fabricius takes us on a journey to the unseen world that surrounds our everyday lives with a deeper look inside the true meaning and connection of life and death.
From the back cover:
When funeral director Theresa Fairholm is called to recover a body, she expects a grim start to her day—but not him. Cloaked in shadow but as real as flesh and bone, the Grim Reaper offers her a choice: return to her quiet life, or join the ranks of his soul collectors.
A strange darkness begins to spread across Old Midland County, the town she’s only just begun to call home. Locals whisper of shadow creatures darker than the night itself stalking their streets in search of a lost soul.
As the darkness starts to swallow her from within, Theresa must confront the buried griefs and ghosts of her past or risk becoming one more lost soul in the gathering gloom.
