Dr. Aris Thorne craved one thing: a discovery that would change the world. A brilliant but lonely xenobotanist, she leads her small team to a remote Icelandic research station, chasing the ghost of life in the planet’s most hostile environment. What she finds is more than she ever dreamed of: a colossal, crystalline structure deep beneath the ice, pulsing with an energy that is undeniably alien.
Driven by a lifetime of ambition, Aris makes a fatal choice. She initiates contact.
But this first contact isn’t war. It’s research. The ancient, sterile alien species known as the Lumina has not come to conquer Earth, but to study the one thing they have lost: the raw, chaotic power of human desire. And Aris is their first subject.
This is not an assault of pain, but a terrifying cartography of pleasure. Pinned by tentacles of living light, Aris is subjected to a clinical inquiry into the flesh, her body turned into a laboratory for an invasive ecstasy she cannot fight. As her mind recoils in horror, her body becomes a traitor, responding with a rapture that provides the aliens with all the data they need.
With her team either taken, broken, or turned into a helpless audience for her violation, Aris is left as the sole specimen who can fight back. But when the experiment is over, she is left irrevocably altered—an antenna tuned to a terrifying new frequency, haunted by phantom touches and a dark craving for the intensity she fears.
Perfect for fans of Annihilation and Event Horizon who aren't afraid of their horror getting intimate and their sci-fi getting under their skin. This is a story of cosmic dread, body horror, and the horrifying idea that your own pleasure can be used as the ultimate weapon against you.
Prepare for an inquiry into the flesh. Your session is about to begin.
