Mayve, a cutpurse from the desert city of Devar, has never known anything but ash, sand, and the sun’s terrible heat. She works tirelessly to steal a better life for her and her mother, with grand plans to start anew where forests still grow and rain still falls. When a lucrative opportunity descends into nightmare, Mayve finds herself in possession of a strange artifact, sought after by everyone in Ralvera; the Oasis Stone.

Hunted by savage raptors, the mighty Oaken Legion, and a masked volcomancer who bends shadows to his will, Mayve must choose: follow a destined path, to bring the Oasis Stone to the Great Seer and learn its true purpose, or use it to avenge the death of her mother. Grappling between prophecy and vengeance, her choice will have apocalyptic consequences.
