The infection turned the cities into slaughterhouses in forty-eight hours. Now, the remnants of humanity survive in the gaps, dodging the dead and the desperate alike on a crumbling map where a running engine is a death sentence.
Joel didn’t ask to be a savior. He’s a survivor, a man hardened by the brutal reality of the low bottoms, doing whatever it takes to keep a fragile group alive. But when a desperate escape thrusts a mysterious child and a sealed, high-tech cylinder into his hands, the stakes change instantly.
The dead own the roads. The living own the shadows. And a massive, terrifying horde is closing the net behind them.
With a modified, battle-scarred flatbed truck as their only fortress, Joel and his small crew must launch into a high-velocity sprint down The Red Highway—a fractured, weed-choked concrete ribbon stretching across a decaying prairie. To clear the county lines and reach a desperate sanctuary, they will have to plow through burnt-out blockades, outrun a swarming sea of the infected, and survive the calculated malice of those left behind.
Because on this road, tapping the brakes means joining the horde.
