Kalnen is a nation forged in blood and ruled by mercenary houses, their power maintained through Vessels; an unstable elemental magic forced into innocent bodies.

Orun and Zarna are the only Vessels not in chains. Capable of immense destruction at the cost of their sanity. They have gained their freedom, but now must choose their path in a land that is not their own and would rather use them as living bombs.

Zarna wants to see the world burn. Orun just wants to go home.

The long-lasting peace between the mercenary houses is rotting, their oaths strained, they will soon use Vessels to scorch their lands and lay waste to one another. Orun and Zarna will travel to the northern Greatlands, both with a part to play in the coming civil war.
